Brief Historical Background
Kapatagan Water District (KAPWD), a government –owned and controlled corporation (GOCC), was officially created on September 12, 1988 by virtue of Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 177-C in accordance with Sec.6, P.D. 198 otherwise known as the Provincial Water Utilities Act of 1973.
On October 24, 1989 KAPWD was issued a Certificate of Conditional Conformance (CCC 418) by the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA). During this time, Mr. Roberto C. Manatom Sr. acted as its Interim General Manager (IGM) who worked hard for the completion of the district’s documentary requirements. He served as IGM from October 24, 1989 to July 3, 1995.
On February 27, 1997 KAPWD began serving the public. After one year of operation, LWUA took over the Management of KAPWD with LWUA representative Engr. Luisito A. Jiongco acting as IGM on April 1, 1998 to January 31, 1999. After IGM Jiongco, Engr. Leodigario T. Ababa Jr. took over as KAPWD First General Manager. He was able to extend water services through mainline pipes to the Barangay Maranding, Lala, and Lanao Del Norte.
On March 15, 2002, the Board of Directors of KapWD appointed Ms. Buenalita B. Rañises. Storage facility of 130 cu.m ground reservoir in Brgy. Cathedral Falls was then constructed.
After fifteen years of service, GM Rañises retired her post and was replaced up to present by the Division Manager Clair Grebern U. Elumir on April 1, 2019.

KapWD serves not only the municipality of Kapatagan but also in Lala, Lanao del Norte. In 2002, expansion to the Municipality of Lala begun. Later on, services was extended to
